I'm not a psychic. I'm just someone who reads "through" the news. I only take the pieces that make sense and formulate an outcome. Plus, I have roommates from India who tell me everything (Hindu and Muslim). I can put the pieces of the puzzle together. If you've read my blog, I saw this coming. My actually prediction was the Taj Mahal... I was close with the hotel with the same name. I see many more days of destruction for the beautiful country of India. I'm so sorry for the recent attacks against Mumbai. I know it is related to your relationship to the US Government.
I'm not religious, but GOD BLESS YOU ALL. Please fight this radical terrorism that seems to be popular in "uncivilized countries". If you help beat it down, then it will go away. GOD BLESS, GEORGE BUSH II; he tried to help. OBAMA WON'T ASSIST WITH HELP FOR THIS CONTINUED DESTRUCTION, I GUARANTEE IT.
AMERICA PICKED THE WRONG PRESIDENT "ELECT".
You must fight this battle for "yourselves".

Yes, u r absolutely true in one thing
We got our FIRST PRIZE for our INDO US NUCLEAR DEAL something that will not benefit the majority of our country in any other way.
India had the rich heritage of being in the forefront of NAM...ever since we changed our foreign policy and started backing everything the US was doing, even some bad decisions of US, India too have become a target.
The proverb is true...if you are close to a person with cologne, u too will smell cologne after a while, if you are close to one with dung, u will smell dung
I have to make one thing clear... i don't have anything personal against US nor its citizens, but i do have severe difference of opinions with many of the policies of your Honourable President Bush. And of course what we all reep now are the products of what we all sow in the past and of course the great Nation US and CIA had its own share in promoting Terrorists and Insurgents worldwide for their own gains
I hope the New President Obama wont commit the same mistakes, so do the Political leadership in India

I agree to YRHabibi. I too believe we are being given increased attention because of our increased 'partnership' with the USA.
Did the war on terror make the world a safer place?
Don't ever be under the impression that the US is free from attacks because of them being tough. It is is just that with that one attack, the terrorists achieved their purpose. I sincerely hope we don't over react and start wars because of this.
Many more days of destruction for our beautiful country? I wouldn't know because I am not psychic. Think more about your own country's future, Candy. You are not in a recession. It is not likely a depression either. More likely a Disintegration. It is surprising that educated people like you are not aware of your situation when the news and analysis are readily available on the net. The tragedy is not something swift like a terror attack. Its effects are not going to be confined to one locality. It was happening for a while now. Only, the pace is going to accelerate soon. A possible worst case scenario for you to consider is a worthless dollar
And I do hope our country don't take any kind of 'help' from the foreigners..

Me thinks mrex knows nothing about the US, but what he invents in his mind. The US goes through a "recession" everytime a new president is elected into office. I'VE SAID THIS BEFORE, AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN... It's a pattern. Hello!
Please start noticing it from now on. I just had to explain this to an older white lady that I work with, so you're not the only person ILL INFORMED. Why I noticed this pattern since 1984, I do not know? I've just never spoke up about it until now.
Read and weep, mrex!

Looks like we are getting closer to joining the war on terror. I dislike the idea of our country doing it. I would rather see India not being the satellite of some so called super powers I prefer my country to mind its own internal affairs than police the world. Being polite, friendly but keeping a safe distance
I'm just someone who reads "through" the news. I only take the pieces that make sense and formulate an outcome.. I do that too. I don't insist on a site to end with a dot org or edu. It sort of narrows the field. Instead I try to hear the opinions of others and draw my own conclusions. In general, media don't lie. They prefer us to see things the way they want us to see it. Once you are alert to this fact, you can start piecing the info together.
I may not know a lot about your country but we will see how things shape up. Search and read news on the net while you can. Don't rely entirely on news given by a handful of media conglomerates.

'The Law of the Garbage Truck' "Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. NEVER take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on with the routine life." Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so....... 'Love the people who treat you right.. Pray for the ones who don't.' A very rightly said quote: Life is 10% what you make and 90% how you take!

You are wrong about my doctorate too
You think Obama is the wrong president elect. You may be right because you have nothing to choose from there. Look how eager they are to bailout the wall street boys. From Left to Right. They have already committed nearly half your GDP for these bailouts and stimuli. You think they will be able to rescue the economy? I am talking about something that is affecting the whole USA. And intelligent people like you think 'the economy is slowly rebounding'!! Stop believing everything your ruling elites and the media tells you. Keep an open mind, read and draw your own conclusions.

UNDER PRESIDENT'S BUSH REIGN (12/2)...
US warned India of attack by Islamist militants, say officials
The US warned India last month of a pending raid by a Pakistan-based militant group it emerged yesterday, a revelation that will add to public anger over apparent security lapses and missed chances to stop the attack on Mumbai.
This is the first paragraph taken from a UK NEWS website.

I had kept myself away from this discussion as there was a deep sense of violation from both internal and external agencies. There is no second thought that there has been a massive security lapse that has allowed this kind of an incident to take place in the financial nerve centre of the country. What is more frustrating is the fact that this is not the first time Bombay has been subject to terrorist strike. Unless we learn very quickly from history we are condemed to repeat it.
i am not delving on the external factors as of now as I believe we must first put our house in order before we embark on that journey. But rest assured that there are serious external factors that also need correction.
But Candy I would also like to point out that so far as terrorism is concerned we have been suffering from it much longer than the US, so your statements of India being in the big league now and so on is not of any consequence as we have been subject to these inhuman phenomena even when the big boys stayed away from us.
Remember my post in your blog entry about forgiving Bin Laden wherein I had opined that for us such gestures will not be possible as we have been consistently bleeding from wounds inflicted by this pest called terrorism.

As long as I've been alive, we have always been peaceful to Canada. I think we tried to buy them a few times, but they always say "no". We don't blow them up because they say no.
We did, for a period have issues with Mexico in the late 1800's, early 1900's. We had a "war" to settle things. We now have somewhat of an illegal alien thing with a Border Patrol. I think we need to ask Mexico if they'd like to be part of the USA again. There's so many illegal aliens here now, so I think it is worth investigating.
From what I've read and seen on the Internet, it's a beautiful country.
Unfortunately, few are making big bucks... one being TelMex. The guy who owns it is 2nd in line for making big bucks in the world. Well, he was last time I checked.
MY PROBLEM WITH UNDERSTANDING is why is the second richest person in the world living in a third world country? Why is he not sharing his wealth with his country? Why is he not improving Mexico? These are just a few question I have.

Canada as it is today can never be like Pakistan is to India and India is to Pakistan.
The history behind the birth of Pak is one of hatred. And hatred is a very powerful motivation as aptly demonstrated by the mis-adventures of the terrorists in the US on 9/11.
It is not a much known, that at the time of partition of India and the birth of Pak, India had infact paid a substaintial sum of money so that the new country could set up an infrasturcture required to run it. Moreover when Pak decided that it will be an Islamist state and systematically purged non muslims India still went on with their secular idea. Else all the muslims in India would have to migrate to Pak. In fact today the Muslim population in India is more than that in Pak and most of them are assimilated into the society.
So we never ever tried to buy them; the idea was just the reverse, we had tried to establish them. But what is not to be is not to be.
You know I have often seen that uneducated/boorish/uncivilised/uncultured people (lesser personalities) often mistake gentle behaviour as signs of weakness or cowardice. Maybe the same is true for nations also.

No, I don't think this will happen. All countries will lose so much if such an event were to occur. I think the top leaders will work things out. It's the radical terrorists that keep screwing up everything for the world. I hope you understand this. It's only a few bad seeds that instigate hate. You just don't get it, do you? The USA was founded on Democracy and Freedom for all. At the time, I think our country's founding fathers meant the USA. As time went on, other countries relied on the USA to help them. Why not help others in need? Why not work as a team? I hope others will do the same as the USA is in crisis.
This is exactly what I expect from my friends and family. When I am in good times, then I help others. When I am less fortunate, then I hope others will remember to help me.
I call it karma. In the USA , we say "what comes around goes around" or "you scratch my back and I will scratch yours"... basically the same meaning for karma.
I defend you, as a person, all the time. You have a good thoughts, but they are so misguided. You need to get out of your hole more often to understand the world.

It doesn't have to be that way, though. Please don't get mad, but I really think Gandhi did an injustice to your two countries. At the time, it did seemed "right". Gandhi offered what I call a "Band-Aid" fix. This is exactly what USA Democrats do today with signing Bills into Laws. It's great at the time, but years later, it causes a whole bunch of other issues.
I can think of two off hand that President Clinton signed, Telecommunications Act and FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act), which have brought devastation to my country now. I'm a firm believer that President Clinton's actions, while in office, are the catalyst for today's Recession.
I can't believe now that President Elect Obama is asking for Clinton's help. To me, this is just asking for more trouble long term. I'm glad I'm 42 with no children, because I won't have to be around much longer to see the fatal results.

I have a feeling that when this storm is over after many years, you will end up very rich. You seem to be aware of the situations and you appears to be sufficiently smart.

I'm rich with spirit. I'm rich with hope. I'm rich because I have internet access to state my views. I'm rich because a beautiful cat sits on my lap. I'm rich because a family in Indiana loves me dearly. I'm rich because I have a job. I'm rich because I own a house. I'm rich because I have a Masters Degree. I'm blessed in so many ways that others will most likely never experience. Yes, I'm rich and will be forever.
Is this what rich really means? I wonder.

Quoting Candygram: It doesn't have to be that way, though.
Million dollar comment. The two nation theory was a blunder, a product of the greed for power of otherwise some very highly appreciated national leaders.
I do not think Gandhi was as much responsibile for this as Nehru, as Gandhi was initially opposed to it.
If only the country had the good fortune of having some independent minded leaders like Subhas Bose in the realm of things at that time things may have turned out differently.

I really like the NEW WORLD ORDER conspiracy that is going around. I think I'd like the world to be "in" order. I think this would eliminate a lot of corruption, crime, etc... I don't know how someone would possibly take control of this option, but it's not a bad idea. It would bring more technology into the picture with "big brother watching". It's a shame that others have to give up their independence (and privacy) to make the world a safer place. I don't see any other options, though.

Look after your house (country) well with development being the only mantra and call a spade a spade without any hesitation - I believe if this simple Principle is followed religiously we would have created a "NEW WORLD ORDER".

I kind of think the "New World Order" is already in effect. I think it slowly started after WWII with the birth of the United Nations and most recently with the Eurodollar introduction. It's a slow process, but I think it will grow nation by nation over time.
I so agree with watching my back with my home. During my last two months before I graduated with my Masters, I left a great paying job. It was either quick school or my job; I thought having a Masters would be better.
Little did I know, the US economy was so tight with jobs. I suspected it, but I guess I was in denial. I was without a job for 6 months. I don't have family to fall back on, so it was all me to save my mortgage.
I stopped paying my credit card bills. All income from roommates went toward mortgage and utility bills. I'm still not out of the woods, so to speak. I don't have the extra monies for credit cards.
I feel so bad about this, too. I was a Platinum holder or still am, if I can just get caught up.
MY NEWEST PREDICTION: the Credit Card companies, mainly Banks, will be the next to ask for additional help from the US Government with default "payments". I sure hope these banks keep their promise with FDIC $100,000 protection. They are required by law to keep monies in reserve for events like a recession, depression, etc... I feel for the extremely wealthy people whose monies saved are well over $100K. These are the people that will lose the most if they don't have their affairs in order.
Oh well, I don't want to sound like a grandma.

Time to give my 'predictions'. I have been searching and reading about your economy for nearly 2 years now. I mentioned in your slave labor post about stagflation once and did mention the coming market crash in another post. The facts, as such, people are already familiar. Like big bank failures, rising unemployment, huge levels of debt and trade deficits etc. I came across a lot of scenarios of late. Call them speculations, if you want to. Like the total collapse of US economy, USD becoming worthless, a Greater Depression (people talk about Disintegration) and hyperinflation, the Amero ..... I have no way to know if these things are going to happen. Those opinions were voiced by guys holding doctorates, economists, stock market people and such. I personally do think some of those things are possible and even a wee bit probable.
But it will not hurt to be informed and watchful. May not be a bad idea if people had life saving drugs that they need in sufficient stock. Enough canned foods and other food stuff that can be stored. (they can always use it before expiry and replace with fresh ones) Better to have your money in different banks than keeping all eggs in one basket. Better still if you had a little gold/silver as part of your savings. Those who grow their food will be better prepared to face the worst is my guess.
Recently I came across the Hal Turner video on you tube. Views similar to some of his I have heard from other sources before. I heard about Amero for the first time from his show. Check it out, if you are not familiar with it. It is a sample of the 'opinions'...
I am not sure about these opinions. But it is safe to assume that govts cannot be expected to help people in time.

I'm listening to you. I don't agree with what I consider your words to be as the 1950's "Nuclear" scare tactics with hoarding foods and or prescription drugs. I do agree that we are going into a very scary time in the World's economy. Geez, I'm just embarrassed because I think ex-President Bill Clinton was the catalyst for this whole lingering event. My apologies up front if this is ever determined to be true.
Side note: The good news, I voted for Bush Sr during that time. I know how much you love to hear that I am Republican.

Hey Candy, How are you? I'm back after a long pause. Anyways, about your article, if Bush were to continue as president, America would have been bankrupt and he wouldn't have been able to help fight terrorism under the current American economy. So, it was time for change anyways. Good article by the way.

I don't think America will ever go bankrupt. We have ways of turning the economy around regardless of what President is in office.
I think this is a test... not sure what kind of test. Perhaps, to see how people worldwide can adjust to an energy crisis. Perhaps, to see how people worldwide can adjust to a lack of money crisis. Perhaps, to see how people worldwide spend their monies during these crisis. These depressions/recessions always seem to be a test of some sort to me based on what I've read in the history books and today. Notice how the world's countries start looking at worldwide patterns. Then one see's either a war or an alliance between countries. I think in this recent case, we will see huge alliances with great participation.

I hope so too Candy. Our Canadian economy is directly related to what goes on in the USA, more so than a lot of other countries. So, I'll try to remain optimistic like you, lol.

It'll get better, sweetie... I mean 51st United States of America. Wow, I haven't called Canada this since 2001 after you failed to help fight terrorism along with your "semi-mother country" of France.
The newest France President, Nicolas Paul Stéphane Sarközy de Nagy-Bocsa is such a sweetheart. I love him. Yes, I've read all about him, too.
I don't even know who Canada's President is right now, do you?

Lol, You mean the 11th. province of Canada, the new France; haha... Well, I wouldn't mind being the wealthiest 52nd. state of USA. At least there'll be a little less beauracracy to deal with. OMG... I seriously did not know Canada was still part of a Monarchy.
I wonder the smelly French connection, though. I love France, but not their choice of underarm deoderant <-- oh, wait, they don't use any.

I may be wrong, but all these while I thought that most of the attacks on india soil were by pakistani millitants and kashimiri terrorists fighting for self rule. I was under the impression that those attacks were due to the relationship between india and pakistan and the kashir issue. Accept for the mumbai attacks where foreigners were targeted, I think all other attacks were on locals and were connected with the kashmir issue.
So I dont think it has anything to do with india's relationship with US. Correct me if Im wrong.
Whatever, nothing justifies killing innocent people and those terrorist who kill people for their own agenda should be dealt with severely.

Candy, just wondering, dont you consider US and UK civilised as you mentioned terror attacks seem to be popular in uncivilised countries.
Lets not forget the famous world trade center terrorist attack and even the pentagon attack, and what about the many numerous attacks in london, the train stations etc.
Just curious how you define civilised and uncivilised.

A civilized attack is simply a slap on the face.
Four airplanes that smack into US soil is considered WAR.

Candy, I've been separated from my motherland for almost 30 years...haha. You want me to that one more time? BTW, monarchy is just for the name here, more like a formality for GG to give out awards on special occasions, lol
