I am 100% European... I have relatives all over Europe... so I think I am entitled to have many opinions...as my family has been affected by that war. I also have became friends with a few survivors... heard their experiences with great sadness.
I do agree that Germany is a great country and has paid plenty for the actions of the Nazi regime.. and not every German had their hands in it and not many ppl really knew to what extent of what atrocities that were happening till after.
The attacks in Mumbai saddened me... I can't imagine how religious ppl.. can go against their God and attack innocent ppl.

You are right....I was just thinking the same thing about these recent terrorist attacks (which were btw aimed at Americans and Brits). How long has this war between Muslims and Hindus been goin on now? That is why I am a lover of history. It teaches us to avoid the mistakes of the past. I often hear criticism of the cold war missle and nuclear threats by the US but had this not been done would another world war III have resulted between superpowers? We avoided another conventional war for many years and thus saved possible millions of lives. I am of german lineage and many of the worlds great scientists are German. It is a nation of great history and intellect. The actions of one lunatic dont reflect a society rich with art, tradition and technolgy. We understand that the country was in economic crises at the time as was many countries worldwide. Its understandable that the people would look for inspiration. Unfortunately, it was the wrong person but as you said this was a valuable lesson and today Germany is once again a great nation.

Those who dont learn from History are destined to repeat its mistakes
Every country has its Goods and Bads and ofcourse every incident happening has its own historic significance which itself is time related. Those who learn from the bad past overcome it and push their nation to the new future. Those who doesn't pull theirs to the dark ages again.
I personally believe it isn't fair to judge a Nation in its present for its actions in the past. (eventhough i don't understand the context of all your discussions)
I am sad that things like these ( terrorism) is happening even in this new Millennium

Even if there isnt God nor Religion, still the world wont be that peaceful my friend.
think about the various occupations, insurgencies and wars that happened in the last century. Not all were in the name of religion including the last one on Iraq even though the sponsors claim so.
the reality is Religion is the best mask, the best protection against all your crimes and greed...terrorist sponsored or state sponsored

Compared to Nazi regime, even these brutal killings are nothing. Every one,,and every country learns its lessions, throu its own sufferings.Maybe ,we still have to learn,,,and for that ,,must suffer more...but,,this must happen here, inside us. Example of Germany does not help us at all. As for history, we are one of the richest,,,and we know the complete morphology of human existance. We have learnt, not that we havent. It was painful,to see the innocent killed. We all pray for their souls to be in peace. YD..thank you for starting a dialogue..but,,kindly dont blame us indians, thinking we are incapable in any way.We are pained, pl share. Thanks

So it is, Merrick, they are condemned! Just certain nations do not even care to learn, cuz they simply believe: they are always right, no matter what they do. And what I mean was, some illiterate members here did post a lot of googled posts, saying germans were living on jews money. Especially, cuz the US took all german technologies and engineers But, let us leave history. Still are spying satelites everywhere..lol.. Some ppl unable neither copy, nor paste....
What I want to underline with my blog was: germans did learn, and make sure to never happen again. Those few members published post, which made many indian ask me same question. 'Are germans really like this?'
As for me, I dont care what poor souls think or post, but in public one has responsibility. I also could post reports about happenings in Iraq, why notbody mention this???? Or details about Afghanistan???? Who will take the responsible ppl to court????
Its always easy for cowards to kill innocent ppl, no matter how they call themself. I dunno who they believe in, as I am not religious. But never will I do a harm even to an animal, they also have life. Ppl pray, I ask myself to whom??? Who will forgive them the killings or other outrages???
Oh, well, this is such a topic, you know.... I better put a dot here.

elcid, yes, I know you are lover of history, sad not many are this. But I was observing your comments else where and have seen your opinion about so called communistic countries. I guess, you do have the idea of what your country gives you as propaganda, hence I do not blame you much for your opinion about it. Believe me, I grew up in this society. I am here in Germany for love sake, nothing else. I could stay away from fire, for I am not native german. And still, I spend over half of my life here. But back to communistic countries, which actually were ONLY socialistic. Plz, if you care, make it sure and travel around those countries and try to talk to ppl, know ppl. You will see, they all regret the change. Some will not tell perhaps, but most do. For in this time ppl used to have quality of life as, very good school education, friends, families, culture life. They all owned a home, and had to eat, had jobs and everything one needs for a good life. Now they lost jobs, homes, families, friends and most important HOPE!!!
You somehow justify decisions of your country in keeping freedom..hehe... well, do it, my opinion is totally different on that matter. But you have the right as I have mine too. I do not trust politicians. Look at that hypocrite Gorbatschoff...lol.. what a clown of a man... He preaches water and drank wine..LOL.. glassnost + perestroika. ... USA was his greatest enemy, till he moved over to make money All talk about corruption, but why they wonder??? Who make politic?? The politicians?? C'mon, guys, you will be naiv to believe this. money makes politic, money tells where to go and what to do. If they need to sell weapons, so they will. Human life became priseless and this is the tragedy of this societies in the year 2008
Dont worry, buddy, the 3rd war is already there, but everywhere
Ufff, my doctor told me not to talk about politic, for my BP sake

MYHabibi I hope you will get my point better after I did respond to Merrick and elcid and the reasons why I posted this.
Its easy to point to others for what happened 70 years back, before hold a mirrow
Terrorism is really a problem for all countries. For its unpredictable
I wonder what country will make the first step and try to talk to them. Perhaps one day its gonna happen and the world be in peace. I hope this is not a dream only but then, I am a dreamer only

bobsss, fantastic what you said. Religion should be everyones private affair and not affaect other ppl life. I never tried to convince anyone who was religious, that he/she was wrong. By contrast they did try to convince me, I was wrong although I get along with ppl from different religions. Funny how none could explain to me, what God is able to excuse and forgive actions like: killings, abuses, violences etc...

And second, where did you see me blaming indians??? Did you get the sense of my blog??? If that was not sharing feelings, what then??? huh ... You really dont know me yet. Who was the very first person, who contact you to ask, right away few minutes after all this in Mumbai happened????? Do you know, IFFians didnt have a clue???

badddd, you should not come now and then and comment my dear, you better care to read all the blogs were here end of october and first weeks of november. Certain member with no idea about history would only google some sites and copy&paste them, which irritated many members here. You also read my answer to the other comments here and might get the reason why I did post the blog. Someone hit a nerv with a blog, no doubt, but germans today are far away from what certain members made them look like. This I want to clarify. I live in this country for 26 years and know who they are and what they are. Thatswhy I meant, they should look at themselves before point their fingers to others and turn back 70 years of history. For their country do not care about peace NOW in 2008 and I dont see near future to do so. Cuz they are ignorant of what their history was.
As for the indians, who is informed and who not... this is another topic, which I will NOT discuss here.

bad1, I do not care about the lost souls, but want to make clear for those, who paged me on YM to ask or sent some emails to my IFF box and ask again and again same quastion: if germans ARE that way, as some illiterate weirdos here posted end of october and first 2 weeks of november. Hence was my appeal to care for THEIR country I dunno why you talk about indians, its obviously who I was talking about, you better read again the whole post, including my responds to the comments.

Yes, king, it seems to be so .. as I have a question, which nobody could give me an answer yet. For those ppl in India, who used to serve the brits before, what did the change bring to them??? In my opinion the ONLY change is the name of their masters. but this is another topic
