You see friend, the point is not how brilliant our people have been or are. The point is also not how good or backward the other people had been at different points of time. It is simple enough. There will always be migrations towards places of excellence. This migration could be by way of war or peace. India was attacked by outsiders for its wealth in many areas. The effects of such attacks are still there to be seen. One cannot say that India was weak or not united etc. Could the Americans prevent 9/11 in spite of all the technological advance? That is what I mean when I say that all civilisations go through ups and downs. A thousand years may not be long enough and a couple of centuries could change the fate of a group of people. Where was China a hundred years ago? Look at them now! Where were the Americans five hundred years ago? Things will change with everyone. Time taken is long or short with different people for different reasons. Things will look much simpler if we accept that it was always the pockets that led the world. If the US is leading now (I think so!), They may not do it for long. If India has fallen behind, say for a thousand years (I do not think so) she may not do so in the coming century. Things will go on this way only, till we blow ourselves up. Meanwhile, it is not impossible to gloat about the achievements in pockets and pock fun at people who are not doing so well at the moment. There is another angle to look at the whole civilisation itself. Do you think that what Man has achieved in the past say 10000 to 12000 years is any big? Do you think that the battle against nature has led him to any higher level of welfare in the true sense? Don't you think that he will soon run out of fuel, food, water, air etc to feed himself or keep himself alive? Of course, 'soon' could be anything between a couple of centuries to few thousand years. Don't you wish at least sometimes that you could be in entirely pristine living conditions where nature is bountiful? Yes, I feel that you do think about such plentiful times. In this regard, the entire advance of Mankind would seem meaningless. Today Man can just destroy himself in a matter of minutes. Future may not even be a dream. Under these conditions, I do not think that poking a joke at a group about lack of performance or low performance which alternately shows oneself to be of a superior stock, is no good at all. It is no use in blowing own trumpet. Keep in touch. |

Hello Arjan i got ur mail ,thanks. Well u saw i was replying to candy in her blog History of india and ..The View from the MIRROR.i wrote wat ever had disagreement with her Friend u rightly said About china..of course they have more will to move ahead( as i see) but historical back ground of china is stronger than us as far as Foreigners,s rule is concern. own Government a positive government makes big difference. i see u asked few qes .i really appreciate ur all ques.i will reply 2mrrow thanks Alok

Hi Rasbehari, My intention in writing in the blog as above was not to show that Man is capable of destroying himself in a matter of minutes. My intention was to tell all, the less privileged and the better off ones that there is no point in calling names. No one wants to be down by choice. If you want to say that one is down because of one's own doing and he should come up on his own, that is very fine. But, hitting someone who is down for a moment is no sign of gente-manship. As for ladies (at least a few of them), I doubt if they have any sensitivity to things of this nature. Education through blogs is fine. But one should be able to sit through the classroom! I am no academic. I guess that I have said enough on this subject.

arajn we cant deny achievement of man of last 10000 years or wat ever date may go back. Experience of life is very subjective as well as achievement of life subjective too.A UNIT of man makes society...of course..we are facing new problem with modernization, as well as few old good institution and customs are falling. .....blogging for me just a fun sometime. sometime sharing even cathartic too!! where's.....i never feel comfortable with English ...... i am nt academic just got average marks always in collage my presonal expernice is few ppl dnt have any empathetic sense I believe humbleness/gente-manship comes though empathy too thanks Alok

Thanks Alok, I believe that it is important to hold some view and stick to it. It is also important to mend ways sometimes. Humbleness does not come from empathy. Empathy is a gentlemanly behavior. A gentleman need not be born as such. (I am not going by wekipedia) A person can become a gentleman at any stage of his life. Sometimes men become gentlemen after taking a lot of beating as well. Life is a great leveller. If you refuse to learn, be ready for further beatings. Thanks again. It was nice talking to you.
