Do many members bail out of a chat without saying good-bye...

...or does the software cut us off?
I have not yet started a chat here, but when others start a chat with me, I receive only a few lines and then nothing. Are they too rude to say good-bye, or is the software cutting us off?
One time, the other person sent me a few lines to ask if I were still there, so it seems my lines to them were cut off before their lines to me.
(I just noticed that I misspelled good-bye in my title as a good-buy bargain! So I fixed it.)

Does mammography cause more cancer than it prevents?

Many scientists and physicians report that honest studies have found that mammography causes more cancer than it prevents. The x-rays can cause or aggravate cancer, and the intense squashing of the breast involved in mammography can cause any cancer that is already in the breast to break free and spread to other parts of the body. Many scientists and physicians report that other methods of exam are safer and more effective.

When we believe that we should behave in a certain way, should we assume that we are actually . . .

. . . behaving in that way, or should we take a look at ourselves to find out?
When we find fault with others' poor behavior, should we assume that we aren't behaving poorly, too, or should we take a look at ourselves to find out?
Do our knowledge and perception of what are right attitude and behavior make us automatically think and feel and do benevolently, or do we have to observe ourselves to find out?
What other questions should we ask ourselves?

Is Darfur less important than Georgia?

I'm glad to see many efforts to bring peace and harmony in Georgia.
I can't help noticing that there was never as much flurry over Darfur.
I know that some of the answers are oil and power struggles between Western governments and the Russian or Chinese government, and the West's economic dependence on China, India, and other countries, and Europe's dependence on Russian oil and gas. What are some of the other answers?
The Sudan has oil, and Georgia has strategic oil pipelines. The EU and NATO are expanding eastward, and Russia is pushing back. What are some other factors?
Is what the Russian government is doing to Georgia worse than what the US government is doing to Iraq? Which has the lamer excuses?
If the Russian government wants S. Ossetia free from Georgia, why don't they want Chechnya free from Russia?
Did John McCain's campaign manager encourage the Georgian government to invade S. Ossetia so that the Russian government would invade Georgia so that John McCain could look tougher than Barack Obama and win the US presidential election this November?
The West might lessen many of its problems by inviting Russia to join the EU and NATO, but that could potentially worsen other problems. The devil would be in the details and oversight and application.
How can we rise to a higher level?

NEW ANGLE: Should we do to others as we would want them to do to us or as they would want us . . .

 . . . to do to them?
If I treat you as I like to be treated, will you necessarily like it?
If you treat me as you like to be treated, will I necessarily like it?
Do some people not understand why others don't like what they do, because it doesn't occur to them to observe or ask what the others want? Do some people just assume that what is best for themselves is best for everyone else too? Do some people not think about this at all, but just feel mystified when they aren't appreciated?
Of course, we don't always want to do what others want us to do, but should we at least find out what they want and consider doing it?
