Grihastha Ashrama ( House holder life )in Hinduism is held as the most important part of human life eventhough Sanyasa (Renunciation) is highly venerated.
The Householder alone contributes to the 1)Brahmachari - the Student 2)Vanaprasthi - the hermit 3)Sanyasi - the monk
in various ways as these people does not and can not have the ways to earn. This is the important duty of the Householder also in Hinduism.
I have proposed to write a series of posts preferably during week ends on this House holder topic since every one as mentioned above are the byproducts of the Householder.

German Minister proposes to abuse the Swastika once again after Hitler’s evil use

German Minister proposes to abuse the Swastika once again in the 21st century after Hitler’s evil use in the 20th century
While Germany holds the European Union presidency, its Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries has, without realizing its wider implications, proposed to ban the swastika throughout Europe. This is evidently to demonstrate Germany’s repentance of the treatment meted out to the Jews by the Nazis. Although such a show of repentance is something everybody can appreciate, it does however look preposterous if it harm’s the world’s oldest religion in its wake. This is because the proposed ban would have far reaching implications as it strikes against the very heart of Hinduism.
The swastika is the most auspicious symbol of the Hindu religion, symbolizing the four right angle arms of the ancient sun sign, with its attendant inner significance. The four arms of the Hindu swastika represent:
(1) The 4 directions of space (2) The 4 Vedas – the ancient scriptures which form the basis of the Hindu religion (3) The 4 ashrams (stages) of life from birth to death - student life, householder life, retired life and renounced life (4) The 4 seasons of the year.
The Swastika symbol is worshiped in the Hindu religion in order to bring well-being and peace from the four corners of the universe. Indeed, the Sanskrit meaning of swastika is “well-being”. On the contrary, the Nazis had used the Swastika in its inverted form to usher in havoc, destruction and mayhem.
Anil Bhanot, HCUK’s General Secretary said, “All ceremonies in the Hindu religion are initiated with the use of the swastika. To think of banning its use would render the law abiding Hindus as criminals. The Nazis used it for evil purpose and as ordained this powerful symbol of wisdom representing Lord Ganesh destroyed its abusers and it is ironic that the same country wishes to pass punishment now onto a people who use it rightly to pray for the welfare of all Mankind. Banning an auspicious sign would be to inflict abuse on the Swastika once again and I hope the Germans would learn that two wrongs cannot make a right. Hindus seem to be becoming the new persecuted race, in a contemporary sense of the word.”
Mr Bhanot explained that the 4 dots between each of the 4 arms represent the 4 original races of Mankind, created by Lord Brahma, and in terms of its scientific significance the Swastika represents the astral projection of our Solar system. To vilify a profoundly original religion is a crime on humanity.
The holocaust remembrance has been held annually all over the world and Germany has very good relations with Israel and the Jewish people in general. It is therefore ludicrous to go a step further and ban the symbol when it clashes with the Hindu religious sign. It is hoped that Germany would not like to hurt one religion to please another. In view of above, Hindu Council UK would urge Germany to initiate to give more prominence to the remembrance of holocaust, the evil that was perpetrated.
Any move to ban the swastika will be met with strong protest and resistance from the Hindu community because it will interfere with the Human Right to Freedom of Worship. This proposal having also been brought up in the past, it is now hoped that in view of its deep implications the German minister will abandon the idea once and for all.

In Vedic times, the normal human life was regarded as eighty-four years, consisting of four sections of twenty-one years each. The first twenty-one years is called the "Brahmacharya ashram", the stage of youth or learning, which requires a certain discipline, guidance and purity for its full flowering.
The second twenty-one years, from ages twenty-one to forty-two, is called the "Grihastha ashram" or householder phase. This is the main time for having children and raising a family, as well as for working and fulfilling our duties to society.
The third section of twenty-one years, from ages forty-two to sixty-three is the "Vanaprastha" or the hermitage phase. This is a time for return to contemplation and for guiding society in the distance.
The fourth and last section from sixty-three to eighty-four is the "Sannyasa" or renunciation phase. The person, now an elder full of wisdom, inwardly aims to renounce all the outer goals of life. He also becomes a teacher of the spiritual knowledge and no longer partakes in social or political concerns. In this we see that only twenty-one years are allotted for the outer duties of life. Three-quarters of life is to be devoted primarily to spiritual study.
Photo on the lefe SWASTIKA which symbolises, four ashramas, four directions , four vedas and four seasons. ( Germany proposes to ban this symbol? read the next post )

Varnashrama ( 4 classes of Hinduism )

The four classes of Hinduism are called as Varna Ashramas. They are 1).Brahmana ( Spiritual class ) 2).Shathriya ( Warrior and the ruler class ) 3).Vysya ( Business and Agricultural class ) 4).Shudra (the labour class )
The caste system upon which the recent past was built was based on the social and based on one's birth but these divisions are based on one's QUALITIES and NATURE OF WORK. People forgot it and the only remnant of the Varnashrama is the Brahmin .
Thank God Spiritual groups in India like the Art of Living, Ramakrishna Mission. Swami Dayananda's Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Isha Yoga and Sivananda order, Amritanandamayi etc., are doing wonderful services to spread Hinduism in its true nature.
Scholars of Hinduism feel that the revival of the Varna Ashrama is important for the upliftment of the society and the world at large.

I had seen Swami Mahadevananda couple of time in Kerala. He was an inspiration to many. He adopted and acclamatised to the living condition in Kerala well.Swamiji was very simple and was not egoistic. He ignored his own comfort and worked hard for new people coming to the yoga centres from all over the world - Shishyan.
Following article taken from Sivananda.org
Swami Mahadevananda was born in Rome, Italy in 1939. Swami Mahadevananda spent the early years of his life traveling throughout Europe, the U.S. and Canada on a quest to find his lifes purpose. In 1968 during a visit to Canada he was introduced to Swami Vishnu-devananda at the Sivananda Ashram Head Quarters in Val Morin, Quebec. Since that meeting, Swami Mahadevananda dedicated his life to learning yoga, and serving Swamiji and his mission.
New year's day, 1972 Swami Mahadevananda was initiated into the holy order of Sanyas by Swami Vishnu-devananda. Swami Mahadevanda served as the director of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Montreal, Canada for ten years (1969-79) During this time, a period of two years was also spent overseeing the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers in New York, Los Angeles and Washington D.C.
In 1979 Swami Vishnu-devananda sent Swami Mahadevananda to serve the people of India. Swami Mahadevananda was appointed the Director of the newly founded Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram located in the small village Neyyar Dam, in Kerala, South India. To this day Swami Mahadevananda continues to serve as director of this Ashram, and has gone on to open centers throughout India (Trivandrum, Chennai, Delhi, Madurai, Mumbai and Uttar Kashi). He is the present Acharya of all Ashrams and Centers throughout India and Canada.
Swami Mahadevananda travels extensively throughout the year propagating the teachings of yoga with devotion and deep insight. As one of the main teachers for the International Sivananda Yoga Teachers Training Course, Swami Mahadevananda has touched the hearts of future generations of yoga teachers and spiritual seekers around the world.

dissemination of spiritual knowledge
Next comes secular knowledge

Who will be the next Prime Minister of India ?!

This month's general elections to the Parliament is expected to get a hung Parliament like the last time. The three major alliances may get almost equal number of seats. Anyone front should offer support to the other front to form a Government.
I personally favour the third front in which the Communists are taking part. A communist Prime Minister ?! why not ? Let us look for a change because this is the high time, we offer a chance to the Communists to work among and for the Labour class of India.
Other prospective PMs are Mayavathi of Uttarpradesh and Jayalalitha of TamilNadu. Political Pandits have kept their fingers crossed till the results are declared on May'16 th.
I prefer anyone of the above mentioned from the Third front to become the Prime minister.

T.N. Sheshan - Reformer of Indian Elections - Brahmin Personalities-5

T.N. Sheshan can be considered as the reformer of Indian elections because prior to him the Election commission functioned as a goverment department . He made it to function independently resulting in the poll reforms. He boasts sometimes that he is a Palghat Brahmin ( It can be justified as people like him have enough reasons to be proud of their caste( Jati)which enables them to excel in their field.
1)VOTER'S ID CARDS: T.N. Sheshan was the spearhead to introduce VOTER'S ID cards to the Indian voter. (It was considered nearly impossible and expensive)
2)Time: The deadline for campaign at 10 p.m.every day Spending: he brought a limit to spend on campaigning thus curbing the black money spent.
3)Assets: Every candidate should reveal the assets they possess.
4)Publicity: The public and private walls were prohibited for advertising the candidates. ( This was a menace as the parties drew and wrote lengthy phrases asking public to vote in India.)
5)Video: The Election officials videographed the campaigning thus deciplining the language they use.
6)Dates:The elections are now held in different phases ( Elections 2009 in 5 phases )which enables better supervision, and setting up of polling booths at specific and remote locations.
It is high time that we Indian realise to this fact that Honesty, Brilliance and the Cleanliness should be repected.
